Outlook is a popular email client used by millions of people worldwide. One of the features of Outlook is its Junk Email filter, which helps to identify and move unwanted emails to the Junk Email folder automatically. However, this feature is not perfect and may sometimes mistakenly classify legitimate emails as junk. In this blog, we will discuss how to configure and customize the Junk Email filter settings in Outlook.
- Open Outlook and go to the Home tab.
- Click on the Junk dropdown menu and select Junk Email Options.
- In the Junk Email Options dialog box, you can select the level of protection you want for your email account. The four options available are No Automatic Filtering, Low, High, and Safe Lists Only.
- No Automatic Filtering: This option disables the Junk Email filter and allows all emails to be delivered to your Inbox.
- Low: This option filters the most obvious junk emails and moves them to the Junk Email folder.
- High: This option filters more junk emails than the Low option and may also move some legitimate emails to the Junk Email folder.
- Safe Lists Only: This option only allows emails from trusted sources to be delivered to your Inbox.
- You can also customize the Junk Email filter by clicking on the Safe Senders, Safe Recipients, Blocked Senders, and International tabs in the Junk Email Options dialog box.
- Safe Senders: This tab allows you to add email addresses and domain names to a list of trusted senders. Emails from these senders will always be delivered to your Inbox.
- Safe Recipients: This tab allows you to add email addresses and domain names to a list of trusted recipients. Emails sent to these recipients will always be delivered to your Inbox.
- Blocked Senders: This tab allows you to add email addresses and domain names to a list of blocked senders. Emails from these senders will always be moved to the Junk Email folder.
- International: This tab allows you to block emails written in specific languages that you do not understand.
- Click OK to save your Junk Email filter settings.
By following these steps, you can customize and configure the Junk Email filter settings in Outlook to suit your preferences and reduce the amount of unwanted emails in your Inbox. However, it is important to periodically check the Junk Email folder for any legitimate emails that may have been mistakenly classified as junk.
